What the map shows

Every site in OS Open Greenspace — public parks and gardens, play spaces, playing fields, sports facilities, allotments, cemeteries and more — shaded by type. Click a site to see its name and type.

How park access is measured

For each council we measure the share of homes within 400 m — about a five-minute walk — of a public park or garden, and of a children's play space. Distance is straight-line from the centre of each census area to the edge of the nearest site, weighted by the area's households.

Coverage and caveats

Covers Great Britain; Northern Ireland is not part of OS Open Greenspace. A straight line is shorter than the real walk, and the data does not say whether a site is open at all hours or how well it is kept.
